Notice of Errata - That's Not Our Flag!!!

I think the web designer who wrote this webpage thinks we are still under Japanese rule. This ain't 1945!
Today, July 10, is the start of one of the most prestigious events in Performing Arts, that is, the World Championships of Performing Arts. The competition, which will be presented by WorldStars, will last until July 18, and is currently held in Long Beach, CA.

According to Wikipedia itself:

The World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) is the first and only international competition to find and crown the best aspiring performing artists worldwide. This competitive contest which is held annually in Hollywood, California is often referred to as the "Olympics of the Performing Arts". Competitors of every age are judged in acting, singing, dancing, modeling, instrumentalists, and variety categories. Like the Olympics, the finest aspiring competitors from countries are qualified and invited. Every contestant attending the World Championships of Performing Arts system has been screened, qualified and selected under specific guidelines. Founded by Griff O'Neil in 1996, The World Championships has sought out and found the next WorldStars from over 70,000 applicants and 47 countries in its decade-long competition, which culminates in an annual televised final awards show, in Hollywood.

An "Olympics-style" competition in which singers compete only against other singers, dance groups compete only against other dance groups, and so on, the participants are grouped by age into Juniors and Seniors, and then a winner is selected in each performance category, for both Juniors and Seniors, over a week-long elimination process. Industry heavy-weights, talent agents, record execs and television producers judge the talent to determine who moves onto the finals. Once at the finals, a champion is selected by 16 celebrity judges from among the top 3–4 performers in each category and both age groups. Of the eight category winners, a Junior and Senior Grand Champion Performer of the World is selected and awarded.

Various Filipino artists have won this prestigious competition. Jed Madela was the first Filipino overall champion in the Seniors Division in 2005, while Aria Clemente was the first Filipino overall champion in the Juniors Division two years later (2007). The Philippines also hold the record of most wins with 10 titles (2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 (2 titles), and 2014 (also 2 titles)).

At this time of writing, my uncle messaged me on Facebook and brought the above screenshot of one of its webpages to my attention (It is the webpage that shows the personal background of Mr. Gerry Mercado, who is the National Director for the Philippines, who is responsible in bringing our acts to this competition).

As you can see in the screenshot, our flag was replaced with that of Japan.

When I looked at the webpage itself, however, I was not offended by it. In fact, I find it funny. Yes even web designers make mistakes, nobody's perfect, right? But by looking at the webpage, it looks like we are still under Japanese rule... even though World War II is over, and Japan had lost. This ain't 1945, bro!

To that someone who created this webpage, I'm not mad at you, to be honest. I was an aspiring web designer before, so I truly understand that was just an error. Perhaps you were simply tired and stressed in working long hours to finish this site. Nevertheless, you've made my day, bro.

If in case you read this, don't think I'm offended with it. In fact, I am trying to help you in updating the site so you can correct it as soon as possible. At least my uncle had noticed it and showed it to me (and I thank him for that). Had he not seen this, perhaps some people will, and they might not like it.

So if you are currently in Long Beach, please do not hesitate to go to this event and cheer for your favorite singers all over the world. Unfortunately, I don't have passport so I cannot go. But I wish every competitor the best of luck, even if I do believe that everyone of you are already winners.

If you wish to see the unexpected error on the WCOPA website, feel free to click on the below link to see it for yourselves before they will notice this post and correct it.

P.S. I have also noticed that our name is also misspelled. It's PHILIPPINES with a double P, not double L.
